Course Overview
Do you enjoy solving complex problems and uncovering patterns? Are you intrigued by how mathematics drives technological advancements? A-Level Computer Science blends logical reasoning with creativity, equipping you with the skills to shape the future in our increasingly digital world. With AI transforming industries, developing strong computer science skills has never been more important. At LUSoM, we explore the deep connections between mathematics and computer science. You’ll study how mathematical thinking underpins efficient algorithms, the principles behind cryptography and game theory, and how coding can be used to solve mathematical problems. We go beyond the standard curriculum, introducing concepts you may encounter at university, from finite state automata to cutting-edge applications of AI. We teach programming in C#, providing a strong foundation for those new to coding while also building on the experience of students who have previously studied Python or other languages. More than just learning to code, our aim is to inspire you to innovate, explore, and create using the power of mathematics and computer science. This combination of skills is highly valued in fields such as finance, engineering, and data science, opening doors to exciting career opportunities. If you’re ready to push boundaries and solve real-world problems, A-Level Computer Science at LUSoM is the perfect place to start.
