Year 13 visit Berlin

This week we took 18 of our Year 13 students to Berlin, exploring science, technology and history.

The first visit was to the ComputerSpiele Museum, diving into the history of retro consoles and classic computers. On day two, students visited the Berlin-Buch Biotech Campus to get hands-on with cutting-edge PCR techniques, followed by a visit to the Deutsches Technik Museum, where students were able to explore technology, science and history through the exhibitions and displays. On the final day, we explored the Science Spectrum Centre, where hands-on experiments and a range of exhibitions allowed students to delve into their interests. A highlight for some students was meeting Tim, the robotic museum guide that led students around one of the exhibits at the museum and gave a summary of various displays.

Alongside these highlights, students explored the city’s iconic spots, from Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Platz to a powerful visit at the Topography of Terror, learning more about Berlin’s wartime history and the Berlin Wall. A fantastic mix of science, culture, and history, and an unforgettable experience for all involved!
